The Sacred Melody of Independence

The music of the State Anthem of Turkmenistan was composed in 1997 by the distinguished maestro Veli Mukhatov. Its majestic sound breathes life into the profound verses of Atamurad Atabayev (1948–2020), a People's Writer and Poet of Turkmenistan, co-authored with Nikolay Gerasimov. It is also Nikolay Gerasimov who crafted the brilliant literary translation of the lyrics into Russian.

This ultimate national symbol was officially adopted on September 27, 1996. Remarkably, for the first six years following independence and leading up to 1997, Turkmenistan used a wordless instrumental version of the old Turkmen SSR anthem as its official state melody.
